Bath Products Made with Goat’s Milk

fragrance oilsWhat’s your name & Your Company Name:  Jerry McKay, Keldora’s Kreations

Started in 2001 by my late wife, Linda Kelly, Keldora’s Goat Milk Soap has been sold in farmer’s markets and various retailers throughout the Canadian Maritimes. She was a very crafty person and was always looking for new projects to try. One year, we had an abundant supply of goat’s milk, so after researching, she decided to try making soap. The first time she took the soap to the Tatamagouche Farmer’s Market with her crafts, she sold six out of nine bars and became very excited. Customers began asking for more scents and colors, so she expanded her selection, which included many fragrance oils from Nature’s Garden. Today, there are over 125 scents used for our product. She did start making other things with the goat’s milk, including shampoos, lotions, and candles, but as the years passed, she began to tire easy and was not able to keep up with the demand. Linda survived her first battle with cancer in 2005 but lost the fight when cancer was found again in 2013.

Since March, with the help of my daughter, Joyce and, Linda’s friend, Mary Ellen, the soap making has continued and customers have shown their loyalty with their support. Currently, we are looking to add more retailers to our wholesale list, and will be adding some of the previous products that were made by Linda back on our inventory list.

Many people have asked us how we came up with the name “Keldora”. Our children actually made the word out of our full names. Sitting together at the table, which was a feat in and of itself, they crossed out all the letters that were the same and were left with “Kel” from Kelly, “dor” from my first name Theodore, and “a” from Linda. The name was originally used for our petting farm, but continues as our soap business.

This year has started out rough for our family but we will keep working hard to make Keldora’s Kreations a success, worthy of Linda’s memory.

Most of our best selling bars are made with fragrance oils from Nature’s Garden. Here are: Spiritual Awakening, Indian Sandalwood, Bermuda Triangle, Tibetian Amber, Cranberry Orange, and Cool Clean Cotton.

candle meltsMy name is Vanessa Paris and I’m the owner of “My Candle Box”.

Hi, my name is Vanessa and I’m responsible for “My Candle Box”. I’ve been open since May 2012 and I enjoy making candles, clamshells, and tarts. The waxes I use are soy and para-soy wax. Making wax goodies brings a smile to my face. Besides making wax goodies for family and friends, I also make them for myself as well. My little hobby has lead me to make a shop on Craft Cafe. I hope you get to experience my soy and para-soy goodies and enjoy them as much as I do.

I have displayed a picture of my Soy Drizzle Melts which includes the following fragrance oils from Natures Garden:  Apple Explosion: McIntosh and Green Apple Explosion (Pink), Sweet Orange Chili Pepper (Orange), and Blueberry Cobbler (Blue).

Beer Soaps Made with Fragrance Oils

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

Fragrance Oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name?  My name is Kelli Brown-Groblewski, owner/operator of Okie Crowe, LLC.

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business? During a job transition, I began making soaps from my husband’s leftover beer brewing ingredients.  Soon after sharing them with friends and family, a friend suggested that we share a vendor booth at a local arts festival.  As I began to create soaps for the event, a full-blown business venture began to emerge.  Since the spring of 2011, I have developed a full product line and have secured 16 current retailers.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  Okie Crowe produces beer soaps, felted soaps, scented soaps, beer bomb bath fizzes, hand scrubs, sachets, Bark n’ Beerscuits dog treats (made from leftover beer grain), homebrew beer kits and refill kits, beer decor, and more.  I also have coordinated the apparel (t-shirts and onesies) and Squigglechick Designs (pet collars, key chains, and luggage tags made from repurposed beer labels) product lines.

4.  What are your business goals?  My current business goals include securing additional Okie Crowe retailers further across my home state, finally securing retailers outside of Oklahoma (none to date—boo!), developing my business plan and honing my vision of what I would like my store front to be (bath and body/gift shop OR gift shop to the Okie Crowe brewery?!?, and working to create a livable income for myself through my business.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  Okie Crowe’s favorite Nature’s Garden products are Beer, Cannabis Flower, Dill Pickle, and Money fragrance oilsBeer fragrance oil and ground hops combine to create Okie Crowe’s most authentic smelling beer-scented soap, Tallboy.  Beer fragrance oil is combined with Cannabis Flower fragrance oil to create Okie Crowe Schwilly Mama soaps.  Cannabis Flower fragrance oil is also used in Okie Crowe’s Cannabis Flower and Stanky Hippie soaps.  Okie Crowe Dill Pickle soap, made using Nature’s Garden Dill Pickle fragrance oil was featured in a local about town blog in spring 2012.  The Money fragrance oil is used in Okie Crowe’s Beer Money soap.  The Vanilla Color Stabilizer is also a great product that has helped me minimize color changes in my soaps.  When I initially began making soaps, I had no idea why my soaps were changing colors after being on store shelves a while.  After much stress and some research, your product helped me uphold the integrity of my products.

Excellent Throw with Fragrance Oils

Monday, May 6th, 2013

Fragrance Oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:      Mary McKnabb   /   Motherly Lights Candles

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business? I am a full time caregiver to my husband who had 4 brain injuries in a 6 month period of time. This happened in Sept, 2006. I was always looking for a candle that had a strong calming scent in order to help keep my husband calm without medication. But was disappointed in how it burned and the scent throw.  ( keep in mind these were grocery store candles)  In 2010 I started searching the internet on how to make candles. I came across Natures Gardens website and found everything I needed to make my own candles, even steps on how to make candles. Finally in 2012, having free time and extra money, I decided to start a candle business. It was something I could make a little extra income doing at home so I could still be with my husband.  My business started in Sept 2012.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  The products that I make are 13.5 oz and 6 oz container candles.  Tea Lights and tart melts. I have more ideas that I will be doing in the near future.

4.  What are your business goals? My business goal is just to produce a high quality candle that burns good and has an excellent scent throw to please my customers.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  Just about everything that I use comes from Natures Gardens. I use Joy wax, fragrance oils, wicks, coloring.  My favorite products is the fragrant oils.  Never new there were that many scents.  I also love the Joy Wax that I purchase from Natures Gardens.  With these 2 products I can make a high quality candle.

Personalized Products for Special Events

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

wholesale fragrance oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:   My name is Laura Luther, I am the proud owner of Olive My Skin

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business? I have officially been in business since 2002, but I have been making my own products since the 1980’s. Having sensitive skin and not being able to use commercial products put me on the course to find all natural alternatives to skincare. Those products were given to friends and family as gifts and eventually as my test marketers. It wasn’t until a friend suggested I sell my products at a craft show that I realized how much I loved informing people the benefits of all natural products. An educated customer always comes back for more.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  Handmade soaps, lotions, lip balms, sugar scrubs, shower gels, foaming hand soaps, soy and palm wax candles. Private Labeling for shops and personalized products for weddings, corporate events, showers and special occasions are very popular with customers right now too.

4.  What are your business goals?  This is my full time job. I am a single mom to 3 teenage kids, so I am able to be both an attentive parent and a successful business owner. Currently my products can be found in many shops in Connecticut, but I hope to be in shops all over the country.

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  The candle fragrances from Nature’s Garden are awesome! Great throw, even when unlit! My customers seem to be drawn towards them. Most of my candle scents are from Nature’s Garden and I think that they will all be very soon.

Homemade Soap and Lotions

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

fragrance oils1.  What’s your name & Your Company Name:  I sell my soaps and body products under the name Bird Bath Essentials.  The big umbrella of my business is The Robin’s Nest and encompasses my fiber and other interests.

2.  Why did you decide to go into business?  What was your motivation?  How long have you been in business?  There’s always been a little entrepreneur in me!  I learn to do something and once I perfect it, I just have to share it with others.  I started The Robin’s Nest in 1984 and added Bird Bath Essentials for the handcrafted soap and body products in the early 2000’s.

3.  What products do you make and sell?  My main body product is soap.  I have developed my base recipe to include nourishing oils and then I enjoy adding herbs from my garden, different milks, seeds, colorants, etc. to individualize my bars.  Enjoying the process, I consider each bar a little work of art.  I also make cream lotion, body/bath oils, sugar polish, bath salts, lip and body butter.  I knit, spin (on a spinning wheel not a bike!), and dabble in watercolors and polymer clay.  Occasionally, you’ll find products that reflect these interests in my shop, as well.  Always in the sharing mode, I also offer classes in knitting and traditional rug hooking and hope to add soapmaking to the list soon.

4.  What are your business goals?  My business goal is to make and offer nourishing body products – ones that are not only nourishing to the skin but to all the senses and the soul.  I work fulltime as a registered nurse and my business dream is to reach a point where I can spend more time on The Robin’s Nest / Bird Bath Essentials than on nursing!

5.  What are some products you use from Natures Garden; what are your favorite products from Natures Garden?  I’m in love with Natures Garden’s fragrance oils and really appreciate the descriptive information that’s provided for each one.  Some of my best sellers include products that incorporate the following fragrances – Sea Salt & Lotus Blossom, Cashmere & Silk fragrance oil, Blackberry Jam, and Aloe Vera & Cucumber.
